According to right-wingers like Elon Musk, how is “wokeness” a threat to civilization? Isn’t “wokeness” just being accepting of diversity?
Not really.
A “woke” person is a person that believes they know the truth. For example, that systemic racism is a fact. Or, that a person can choose their gender. They are woke because they hold the most trendy views. A “right-winger” may not agree with those belief systems.
The point is, that a “woke” person believes what they believe as the absolute truth. There is no room in a woke person’s mind for an alternative view. However, a rational person, given that there are other views, would not assert that their view is absolutely true. In fact, it is actually intolerant to believe that one knows the absolute truth. If right-wingers do the same, they are intolerant as well. There was a time when it was woke to be Christian (middle ages, etc.).
It is a threat to civilization because it is not rational.
