To what extent can an individual be free only when acting within institutions?

So long as we live with others in civilization, we are not completely free.

In Buddhist and Hindu religious texts the opposite concept is expressed as upādāna, translated as “attachment”. Attachment, that is the inability to practice or embrace detachment, is viewed as the main obstacle towards a serene and fulfilled life.

SpaceX Employees Fired for Open Letter Complaining About Musk – Washington Free Beacon

The SpaceX employees were attempting to compel Elon Musk to behave in a certain way. But he was right to fire them. Few can. Many are thus unable to find the truth and build the greatest products.

Another good example is the woke mantra: “diversity is our strength”

To think freely requires detachment or a very strong mind like Musk’s.
