How is the global youth population currently dealing with their existential angst/crises in a world gone awry or crazy? What do they see coming?
Sorry, life is suffering. See the first of Buddha’s 4 Noble Truths:
- dukkha (suffering, incapable of satisfying, painful) is an innate characteristic of existence in the realm of samsara;
The western world has become very successful, and thus its people have become entitled. In entitlement, they are creating their own suffering. Critically, these biologically mature adults do not behave as intellectually mature adults. They do not reason. Moreover, they self-medicate. They do drugs, drink, and engage in a wide variety of self-absorbed behavior. In other words, they prevent themselves from growing up.
Consequently, these “adults” have no capacity to coach and develop their children. However, it is not that the youth see something coming. Instead, they simply see nothing at all. They fail to see a future because their brain, without reason, lacks that capacity. Now they too suffer, as nature frantically attempts to put them back on track. Except that adults taught them to do drugs, drink, and engage in a wide variety of self-absorbed behavior. Therefore, adults have prevented them from growing up.
The suffering is supposed to fix the brain. It is like the pain of touching a hot stove. You learn. Reason is much harder. Ask Buddha.
