What are the benefits of social democracy?

What are the benefits of social democracy?

It depends.

To the socialist:

It is a non-violent path to dependency and eventual authoritarian socialism.

To the capitalist/free person:

There are none. It is creeping dependency until freedom and capitalism are eliminated.

For example, presently, the progressives agitate for democracy in America. One step is the elimination of the filibuster, leading to majority rules in the Senate. But America has never been a democracy. It is a representative republic. A representative republic protects the minority, whereas democracy, ipso facto, is majority rule—that is, the electoral oppression of the minority.
