SELF-control is Free Will
Free will is, in truth, FREE WON’T (See learningframework.com post on Benjamin Libet). FREE WON’T is also known as SELF-control. Critically, SELF-control is key to emotional maturity and good mental health.
Without FREE WON’T (otherwise known as SELF-control), humans cannot be “smart.” These individuals will not be able to discover the unknown. They will not have the capacity to discern between what is true and what is false. Thus, their mind can be filled, increasingly, with conceptual garbage. They will have no SELF-awareness. And they will be trivially susceptible to propaganda. This is why the left wants control of schools. Schools where the intellectually immature are. Unfortunately, some (and increasingly more) humans lack SELF-awareness and SELF-control when they leave school. This is systemic intellectual immaturity. It is a correctable pandemic, however. Humans can have FREE WON’T (free will or self-control), but not every human does. This must be corrected.
Individuals without SELF-control rage. Why do they do this? Because all new ideas are an attack on what the individual already knows. They cannot step back (FREE WON’T) momentarily so that they can seek to understand and reject, if necessary, the other idea. Instead, their brain emotionally reacts in a “fight or flight” response. This is how the habit brain (our more primitive evolutionary brain) works.
If you see people rage, you are watching emotionally immature people in action.
