Quora: How do capitalism and democracy coexist, even though they may have conflicting principles at times?

There are two principal groups of people within society. Those who champion individual freedom and the collectivists (tribal thinkers).

The folks who cherish individual freedom are self-reliant. Thus, they know how to problem-solve. Capitalism makes sense to them because capitalism is the means through which their talents are broadly merchandised. The collectivists are labor (ONLY). They are excluded from capitalism because labor is the recurring problem the problem-solvers seek to solve (a civilizational expectation).

Pure democracy (emotional mob rule) is collectivist. A Republic is for individuals (capitalists).

Society is made up of both collectivists and individuals. This is why there is conflict.

If the capitalists go away, civilization will fall. It has before. If capitalism succeeds, problems will go away. In fact, the collectivists are THE problem.
