Is Mamdani a communist?
He is a revolutionary. In economic terms, that’s Marxism. In Islamic terms, this is the elimination of the Jews in Palestine.
I think this question might misunderstand Marx. Marxists know communism has not worked, but they also know revolution, by ending capitalism, has. Mamdani is first and foremost a revolutionary. Furthermore, Islam is also revolutionary, i.e., “globalize the intifada” is the call to arms against Jews and their defenders. Yet, Mamdani will not disavow this revolutionary declaration. NOTE: In capitalism, the problem-solvers (capitalists) create and control the means to problem-solving. This is how they improve civilization.
In Marxism, collectivism is not the solution; it’s the result. Their solution is revolution to end individual freedom and capitalism (the oppressor). Marxists are unable to participate in civilization as individuals, so they seek an end to it, one way or the other.
