Quora – Does the far-left leader advocating for leadership in Berlin reflect the global spread of socialism, similar to its presence in the United States?

First, I see primarily American media.

Second, as a foundation, the battle is simply between individual freedom and collectivism, which is tribalism (see our evolutionary history). Collectivism has many variants; to name just a few of the principles: socialism, communism, and Islam. Individualism has only one: capitalism as civilization.

Note also that rationality creates individualism, and dysrationality creates collectivism.

I know that there have been many words written to distinguish the thinking among political ideologies, but it really is that simple: collectivism vs. individualism. Yet we have been struggling with the two for nearly 10,000 years (since Sumer). Back and forth we have gone.

Specifically, vis-a-vis your question, I see socialism (collectivism) as a front for collectivist globalism. This movement is worldwide, led by EU and Democrat elites and now, ostensibly, Mark Carney of Canada. Another, albeit in decline, is communist China. Whereas MAGA and President Trump represent (in America) nationalism for freedom and capitalism. This movement is now furthered by other independent nationalist movements across the globe. Thank God. China and the EU elites champion socialist collectivism, and Iran champions Islamic collectivism.

Separately, Iran is a variant of religious collectivism in that it is tribally (Islamic) collectivist, i.e., promoting the primacy of the tribe (Islam). Iran saw America as the great satan because America promoted the primacy of the individual. They are incompatible.

President Trump is strengthening America as the sole civilization (a nation of free individuals) by eliminating its outward collectivist threats (Iran, Cuba, and the jingostic frontlines of China (Panama, Cuba, Iran, etc.) and cutting off and calling out the socialists of the EU and North America (passive threats). And it is about time. Other collectivist nations (e.g., North Korea), not really posing a threat to America, are quietly left to their own inevitable tribal misfortunes.

Fortunately, the open border (collectivist) madness has been a shot below the waterline for collectivism because socialism and open borders are oil and water to a rational electorate. Accordingly, open borders have rocked the prior global order and now place socialism in decline.

The back-and-forth you see is just that: a conflict played out non-violently.

Before MAGA and President Trump, socialism was ascendent. Open borders have ended that. Now, nationalism is ascendent.
