What’s associative thinking mode?

It is a byproduct of thinking in your frontal lobe.

Habit is connected to decision-making and action. Reason (enlightenment) is not, at least directly. One cannot think in the cortex without progressing towards a decision. Also, it does not necessarily require awareness; its thinking is, by and large, subconscious. Nevertheless, this decision-making objective is why so many people look for proof. Their mind, in habit, is attempting to decide.

The opposite true for reason.

Reason contemplates objective truth. Being tolerant of many (potential) truths, it falsifies hypotheses to limit. This process is the pursuit of the sufficient condition.

This frontal lobe feature is the premise underlying the following meme.

It is also the cause of associative thinking.

FYI – Dreaming, I hypothesize, happens in the frontal lobe. Most people do not reason (use it) during the day, as they are busy with activity and decision-making. As such, their frontal lobe is raring to go while their cortex is exhausted. So, I think it does some blue sky “associative thinking” on its own.
