Why should freedom of choice have limits?
Why should freedom of choice have limits?
You should have freedom of thought without limit. PERIOD.
You should have freedom of speech so long as you do not defame another (harm someone in the eyes of another).
You should have freedom of action so long as your actions do not harm another.
Your freedom of thought and speech are used to make the case that your freedom of action does not directly harm another. A representative political system and a justice system keeps the debate alive even if laws are enacted to limit your freedom of action.
Presently, the American political system is operating without representation (executive orders, disrespect for laws, unequal application of laws, etc.). If this continues, the government will not have the consent of the governed.
