I think intelligence can be improved several different ways.

First, I created a block diagram for your question:

Assumption: We mostly operate out of our subconscious. Our consciousness directs our actions some what, but we rely on what we already know. Our conscious brain is where new ideas occur and are developed.

Here you go:

  1. Improve subconscious (your gut, common sense, etc.) action. You would do this by taking control of your Free Won’t[1](FREE WILL) so that your rational mind can improve on what you know (experience / understanding library).
  2. Again, use your Free Won’t (FREE WILL) response to build defenses/responses in your experience / understanding library to control and manage unconscious reactions (amygdala) to sensory input—emotional responses. Emotions are performance killers … unless, that is, you are in the presence of an actual killer.
  3. Again, learn to bring your conscious (rational brain) on-line more often. I have a theory, I think day-dreamers are not using their rational brain for actual performance activities enough. Therefore, the dreamer’s rational brain “wings off” and just starts … dreaming. The smart person focuses that Dreams / Daydreams / Visions / Hypothesis library for getting stuff done or done better.
  4. Wildly increase your sensory input and storage. The more data you have, the better, and faster, your hypotheses will be tested and verified. This is the king-choko-bobo solution to better/smarter thinking. Since you have rational participation at greater levels now (see 1, 2, and 3), it is only a matter of time before your mind will becomes like V’Ger[2]. I guarantee it.
