Is the freedom of political speech a necessary right in a successful country?
Freedom of thought is key for successful countries.
Freedom of speech is it’s manifestation (also required).
Some culturally homogenous societies have freedom of speech, and, because one does not see disharmony as a result of it, the right of free speech is never questioned. This is because the the cultural programming on the people is stronger still. The people themselves are oppressing their own thoughts. Here, societal change may not happen even though free speech ostensibly exists.
New and creative thinking (problem solving) is fundamental for success. Free speech is its essential facilitator.
