Most of what we learn end up in areas of our brain that we use subconsciously. This is efficient. Imagine how hard driving a car would be if you had to consciously thing through every action.
Ordinarily, our “stored” behaviors get better and better. As a result, we use our problem solving faculties (and reason) less and less—if we acquired it, because some don’t. Also, businesses generally do not like problem solving. The business really prefers predictability and success. Whereas, making mistakes (part of problem solving) is not desirable.
Unfortunately, there are many forces in life driving us away from reason in modern society. Two hundred years ago on the farm, nature an life made sure we were on our problem solving toes. Today, not so much.
As a result, so many people have become untethered from reality. It is crazy.
Note: zombies are usually found in cities (where so much is done for you), and rarely on the farm.
