Why would anyone disown their family or life long friends because they have different political views?

The WOKE do this because they are irrational. Their psychic self (ego) cannot abide conflicting views. The WOKE believe they are absolutely right. This is origin of their “woke”ness. The WOKE cannot be wrong. Also, the woke, having acquired their views irrationally (did not discover the truth), have no ability to defend their views. They know only their beliefs. Therefore, their mind is defenseless.
And thus they are scared.
