Which side today is generally more judgmental, the left or the right?

Specifically, irrational people, both from the left or the right, are judgmental.

The woke, Marxists, Critical Theorists, etc. think they know what is correct (hence they are irrational). These irrational people will oppress (i.e. cancel) the free thoughts of others to enforce their beliefs. In the extreme, this looks like Nazism, communism, or any one of a number of authoritarian movements.

If men uphold reason, they will be led, ultimately, to conclude that men should deal with one another as free agents, settling their disputes by an appeal to the mind, i.e., by a process of voluntary, rational persuasion. If men reject reason, they will be led, ultimately, to conclude the opposite: that men have no way to deal with one another at all—no way except physical force, wielded by an elite endowed with an allegedly superior, mystic means of cognition.

The religious right, when it thinks it knows, is also judgmental and oppressive.

In his dialogue On Free Choice of the Will (Macmillan, 1964), St. Augustine (354-430 C.E.) argues that our minds can know truths that are eternal. For Augustine, something is eternal if it exists in a timeless, unchanging state. So eternal truths are unchanging and are not in, or influenced by, time.

Augustine on God and Eternal Truth

Here again, a philosophical father of the Catholic church argues that absolute truth can be known. As a result, the church oppressed many across the centuries.

However, later, St. Thomas Aquinas connected science and reason to church thinking. Later still, Pope John Paul reiterated it. Both individuals are magical to me. We are a more rational people as a result, and we should all thank God for them.

The absolute truth exists, but no one can claim it for their capacity to reason. For some reason (HaHa), this is a difficult concept for people to grasp.

As for which side is more judgmental? Does it matter? Irrationality, in all its forms, is vile.
