If a future AI is able to detect misinformation and fake news with great accuracy, should it be in hands of well-trained professionals and open source organizations instead of the government and large-scale corporations?

No.

FIRST (crucially): AI is a decision-making solution. Humans must make societal decisions themselves, as individuals, respecting their personal wants and experiences, and accepting completely the negative or positive consequences of their decision. Otherwise, in time, and now unable to make their own decisions, they will be of little use to the lives of both themselves and others.

SECOND (and equally important): The ruling elite are positioning themselves to program the brains of the people, just as a software engineer would be positioned to train an AI system. Only here, the elite are proposing that the programming effort take place over two steps.

The ideal trainer described in the above question, ostensibly selected to train the AI system, is in fact acting to produce the good/bad data needed to eventually train the masses. In other words, some person or group is to be awarded the role of training the AI system so that the AI system can efficiently filter the data used to later surreptitiously train unsuspecting and trusting Americans. This is wrong. And yes, misprogramming the population is the malevolent agenda of the just created DHS Disinformation Governance Board. There is no greater threat to liberty.

The people’s ignorance of AI is laundering the true agenda of the elite.

The Disinformation Board’s creation is an explicit attempt to take control of the minds of the people. Imagine the board declaring … to the people … here’s a good email, here’s a spam one (a common task of AI). Over time, the people would come to recognize good and bad emails this way. And so it will be with every other social decision. I despise it. None of us should be manipulated so casually.

People can be sophisticated in their thinking. But, human thinking does occur in layers. These layers make possible backdoors for control (like hypnosis). The disinformation human-AI trainers are merely exploiting humanity’s simplest layer.

Consider this model for the human brain:

The Human Machine Learning System

Region 1 is the human machine-learning system. As one of its inputs, the mind hears and contemplates the thoughts of others through speech and written language. Additionally, all sensory data comes into and through this brain area. A process called operant conditioning, with other learned processing tools (like math), revises the individual’s thoughts as necessary. Still, without access to reason, individuals cannot produce wholly NEW ideas. Likewise, they will have difficulty recognizing bad ideas within unfamiliar subjects. They must instead rely on others.

And this is the mind’s programming back door.

The human habit-thinking system is different than a computer machine-learning system, in that the operant conditioning methodology of the habit mind evaluates what is good or bad based upon the needs of the SELF. Whereas, in the software-based machine-learning system, an external HUMAN programmer makes the decision.

Enter the “expert” for us all—NOT

It is at this location, that a ruling elite attempts to insert themselves. By prefiltering the data, the elite, rather than the individual, decides what is good or bad. And, because it is one way humans acquire new ideas, some of us are inclined to accept it. Because people aren’t making decisions, they will grow increasingly reliant on the thinking of others.

People have both a human right AND A CIVILIZATIONAL DUTY to decide for themselves.

No one should decide good or bad for us. Ever. AI, no matter how interesting and efficient it appears, is doing exactly that. Moreover, because of the nature of AI, none will have visibility into the reason behind the AI’s thinking. Skynet anyone? Just because this system doesn’t involve nuclear weapons, doesn’t mean the idea couldn’t be civilization ending. It can.

Have you ever heard of the Late Bronze Age Collapse? In this very successful civilizational time, elites in the palace city-states told everyone what to do, in detail, down what, when, and how much food to plant. In other words, the elites performed all the thinking for the masses. Initially, the palace city-states thrived under elite control, until, for some environmental or the like reasons, they couldn’t. Then, everything collapsed, hard. The angry residents apparently tore these huge cities to the ground. The people left only rubble. The city-states were never rebuilt. No one has a clue what happened, but I think I do.

This post is a hint.

I am working on a book about it: Why Civilizations Fail.

How scary. I oppose it.
